Youth Programs

PCYC Programs are focused on PCYC’s mission to get young people active in life. We have a suite of programs focused on building young people’s skills, character and leadership.

Our range of Blue Star programs aims to create young leaders of the future, it gives you practical, real life skills that you can apply to work, family and your community. Our range of youth programs aim to build on young people skills and character through training and mentoring. Program times and activities vary between sites for more information on what is available in your area please contact your local PCYC.

Nations of Origin

Nations of Origin is a multifaceted sport, cultural, education and leadership program that culminates around NAIDOC week annually. Each year around 1,400 Indigenous & Non- Indigenous young people represent their Aboriginal Nation in Rugby League, Football fives, Basketball, Netball and Gymnastics to promote reconciliations within communities and celebrate Australia diverse Indigenous culture.

U-Nites

U-NITES aims to engage young people into fun, safe, supervised and supportive activities at their local PCYC’s on Friday and/or Saturday nights. U-NITES programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of the young people within the local community. Most programs include transport to and from the PCYC, a range of fun activities/programs and dinner. On the conclusion of the program all participants are then transported home in PCYC vehicles. Program times and activities vary between sites for more information on what is available in your area please contact your local PCYC.

Savannah Pride

Savannah Pride is a sport for development based organisation that aims to skill, educate and mentor youth through Basketball in Western Sydney. Savannah Pride provides a positive outlet for young people to channel their energy and grow, through well-rounded basketball programs, educational programs, homework support, mentoring and cultural guidance. Savannah Pride takes a holistic approach to sport for development and works closely with families, schools and local police. Much like the Savannah tree, Savannah Pride believes that developing these deep roots and strong branches means our communities can take shade under the Savannah tree.

Fit For Life

Fit for life is an early morning, intervention program engaging youth who are at risk of poor choices and antisocial behaviour. This life changing program focuses on linking physical, emotional & social wellbeing, nutrition and building resilience skills. Fit for life aims to improve overall wellbeing, promote a healthy lifestyle and divert youth from offending behaviours

Fit For Work

Fit for Work is a life changing program for young people aged 16-17years that runs for 10 weeks, 3 days a week, and aims to address a young person’s disengagement from education and employment. The program helps young people develop necessary life skills and gain qualifications that result in resilience and increased employment opportunities, while reducing or preventing anti-social behaviours or involvement in crime.

GRIT

GRIT is an innovative and contemporary 10-week mental resilience and well-being program. It uses physical exercise, nutrition education and evidenced based strategies to cultivate emotional intelligence and resilience. Trained PCYC GRIT facilitators guide teens in a safe and inclusive environment through fun physical exercise, creative arts and experimental learning activities.

Blue Star

PCYC Blue Star Leadership programs work with young people across NSW to develop their skills, character and Leadership. Underpinned with the NSW Duke of Edinburgh International Awards, Blue Star Bronze & Silver Levels include three 5-day camps where participants will work through a range of individual and team challenges, as well as participate in leadership workshops. In between each camp, participants give back to their local communities by volunteering at their local PCYC Club. Our Blue Star Leadership programs provide practical and real-life skills that young people can apply to their everyday lives, assisting in creating positive young leaders within local communities.

Haka Warriors

Haka Warriors showcases resilience, respect and sense of community by connecting young people with their culture. This program is designed to challenge Pacific Island youth by using the cultural war dance of the Haka to connect and promote positive behavioural and emotional change.

Holiday Break

Holiday Break activities – Delivered as part of The Office for Regional Youth Holiday Break initiative!

PCYC deliver Skills Workshops focusing on gymnastics, fitness and ball sports delivered within a four-hour session. Activity skills aimed at 12yr year old +, the participants will be split into groups based on participation numbers and rotate between each activity. Focused on introducing and developing skills for each particular sport. Suitable drills will be delivered based on the general ability of participants to ensure they are suitably challenged.

Our Youth Nights will be a combination of a friendly sport competition and creative art session. Targeting the 12yrs + demographic and between delivered during evening hours. Participants will be able to choose which ball sport they wish to compete in on the evening (Basketball, futsal, volleyball, netball etc) and compete 3 on 3 with each team. Participants will be able to extend on the skills they worked on in the previous skills workshops, in combination with teamwork in an actual game setting. In addition, participants will partake in a street graffiti art workshop in which they will be invited to design and paint canvasses based on a theme provided by the Club. Participants will be able to showcase their creative skills, develop them with formal instruction in a safe, appropriate space and socialise with likeminded individuals.
